Arab Press Studio is an experimental printmaking studio, archive, and research platform based in Germany, dedicated to reviving Arabic letterpress and analog printing practices. Emerging from research initiated in 2020, it became publicly active in February 2022 with the launch of both its digital platform and physical print workshop.

Print Your Own Business Cards: A Letterpress Workshop

Step away from screens and discover the craft of traditional printing. Design and print your own business cards using movable metal type and historic letterpress equipment. Learn how printers worked for centuries before the digital age and experience the tactile process of composing type by hand, mixing ink, and operating a manual printing press. You will be introduced to traditional tools, typefaces, and the historic measurement system of letterpress printing. Choose your type, compose your text, prepare the press, and print your cards by hand. No previous experience is required. Guidance and support will be provided throughout the workshop.
The workshop begins at 10:00 a.m. and usually lasts 6–8 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for workshop use.

Our Story

Arab Press Studio is an experimental printmaking studio, archive, and research platform based in Germany, dedicated to reviving Arabic letterpress and analog printing practices. Operating at the intersection of typography, material research, and cultural inquiry, the studio explores printing as both a craft and a critical practice.

Emerging from research initiated in 2020, the project became publicly active in February 2022 with the launch of both its digital platform and physical print workshop. Since then, it has evolved as a space for experimentation, production, and knowledge exchange.

Through hands-on production, education, and archiving, the studio reactivates traditional techniques that have largely disappeared from contemporary design contexts. Its work focuses on the materiality of Arabic type, approaching letterforms not only as visual elements but as cultural artifacts shaped by history, technology, and use.

Rooted in an ongoing process of collecting and research, Arab Press Studio draws from a growing archive of Arabic design heritage, alongside an expanding collection of books, references, and printing materials sourced internationally. This archive informs typographic experiments, printed matter, and spatial investigations, positioning the studio as both a workspace and a platform for the preservation and reinterpretation of Arabic visual culture.
